Digital Literacy

I use digital technology monthly, weekly, daily and even hourly. I am always looking at the internet on my phone or using the computer for things like homework and hobby type stuff. I love to use the internet; I use it for everything. I think digital technology is so great and I love being part of a world that uses it so frequently and has it readily available. Here is a list of some of the things I use digital technology for and how I plan to in cooperate it into my own classroom.
  • Digital technology used
Daily: Iphone, Ipod, Desktop, Television
Weekly: Ipad, Laptop

  • Online texts I read
Cooking blogs/websites
Pinterest
Facebook
Email
Family/Friends Blogs
Cache Valley Crossfit
Body Rebellion
Interior Design online class material

  • Ways to include digital technology in teaching
I plan to in cooperate technology into my classroom by using a variety of tools like computers, laptops, cell phones, Ipad/Ipod, blogs, websites and Facebook. I will use computers for students to research, read articles, blog posts, discuss on FACS Facebook group, design products and many other things. I will use cell phones when taking surveys of certain topics discussed. I will use ipads/ipods (if available) for different learning material that match my curriculum. I think digital technology is a great tool for a classroom. I hope to get different grants to I can purchase different types of digital technology for my classroom to assist in my instruction.

  1. I really like your list of how you will use technology literacy in the classroom. I think it is important we integrate it into all of our areas because that is what is relivant to our students and that is how they will learn. One of my cooperating teaching has Ipads available to her students for Interior Design and I am super excited and nervous to use them. But she says the students love the apps and they really get into. What more can we ask for!?

  2. I'm right there with you! I love living in a world with technology so readily available. I have so many forms of information right at my fingertips at all times. I love feeling informed and aware of what is going on around me.

I really enjoyed reading how you are going to use technology in the classroom to help with literacy. I think too many times, teachers forget to use what students know and what they draw their experiences from. I think that if we use what they know, then their learning experiences will mean so much more! I really liked the idea of using cell phones in class. So many times we get caught up in the rule of- no cell phones allowed! But in real life, when are you not going to have your cell phone? Why not use it in learning experiences?! Great ideas! I really enjoyed reading this :)

  3. Your ideas for using technology in your classroom are very good. I like that they are practical and motivating, tapping into what your students already know and use. Well done.
